As the summer heats up, so does the competition at the Pro Shows. This weekend, the IFBB Puerto Rico Pro will take place in sunny San Juan, Puerto Rico on June 4th. Tim Gardner Productions and Wings of Strength present the Puerto Rico Pro, which will contain many different IFBB divisions and is a NPC national qualifier. The Men’s Physique division will take the stage with an almost completely different lineup from last year’s show. This show will be an exciting one to watch, as various competitors from different countries around the world will gather on the island to determine who has the best overall physique.
The 2015 and 2016 1st place winner, Chase Savoie, will return looking to reclaim another Puerto Rico Pro title. The 2x Olympian, is trying to keep his momentum going after just recently taking home 5th place at the star-studded New York Pro. Savoie who placed 12th at last year’s Mr. Olympia, is still searching to qualify for this year’s Olympia. He will be a tough competitor to beat come Sunday and should have no problem taking home a top spot come finals. The only question is can he take home a win for a remarkable third year in a row.
Mike Balan, another 2x Olympian, will land in Puerto Rico this week in hopes of dethroning Chase Savoie as PR Pro champ. Balan also competed at the NY Pro, leaving with a 9th place finish at the highly contested event. Balan will be a standout at this show, as he will try to re-qualify for this year’s Olympia stage.
Maxime Parisi, will take the stage against Savoie and Balan after placing behind them (16th) at the NY Pro. The French native IFBB Pro is currently tied at 32nd on the Men’s Physique Point Standings. Winning the PR Pro would undoubtedly push him up the leader boards.
The Puerto Rico Pro, or Enchanted Isle Classic as it is dubbed on the main website, might name a 3-time champion, or create buzz with a new overall winner. Either way, the event this weekend is shaping to be an impressive one.
